Buying the "right" Home Theater is never easy.

Even if you are a buff it’s hard to keep pace with the dozens of different brands and models that keep coming out.

Before you run to an appliance store and buy a plastic rattle-and-buzz outfit, here are a few words of sense that can help take the uncertainty out of buying the right audio/video gear.

First of all, lets clarify what is the “right” equipment.

If you live in a studio apartment or dorm room, you’re not going to need the power you would need in a big rambling home with a 30 foot living room. Power is expensive, it is also relative. An amp that puts out 40 watts in a dorm room can sound louder and fuller than a 100 watt amp in a massive house.

Now the salesman usually wants to sell you all he can. It is in his interest.
